Porcelain Rising

Porcelain Rising

The scene starts off by zooming into the girl, this suggesting something is moving towards her very slowly; it makes it seem like us the audiences are the ones who are creeping up on the girl. Straight away we can tell something bad is about to happen how? Because the zoom is highly significant and portrayed the meaning to us in an understandable way. Also by looking at her bed we can tell that her parents are rather stylish and creative. Her quilt is white, which suggest that she is pure and holy.

She has trouble sleeping; her father decides to lock up the toy. When we look at this toy, it looks like some type of clown, and clowns are portrayed to be ugly and crazy. This could be linked to the chucky movie where the toy came to live and started killing everyone. The toy looks like a demon, with the one eye and red plots on her cheeks and clothing. The makeup of this toy creates a nerve-racking atmosphere.
This imagine shows that the clown toy has more power and control over the other toys, as she is sitting down comfortably, and has her hands on the neck of two other toys, it’s like she’s trying to execute the other toys, as they are all lined up on the wall. This can also be known as a wide shot, as it shoes the object and the surroundings of the area/location and what’s around her. She is bigger than all the other toys which again make’s her more substantial to the other toys.

In this next section, the lighting portrays the father to seem as if he has two different sides to him. When the light flashes on him it makes the audience see a pure person almost like a angel, and as soon as the lighting goes off he is seen to be on a dark path, or towards the path to darkness as the light is not totally dark, it’s just a low-key lighting. You can see the two different sides below.
The lighting also constructs a mixed atmosphere, giving us different leads and making our mind change on things.

We can see that the father is very exasperated, through the close up shot. We can infer from this that many things are running on his mind. The fact that we can’t see his eyes and that he’s wearing a BLACK night wear, suggest the shadows were creeping him on him slowly, rather this was a sign that his daughter was going to get killed.

Most of the sounds in this film are diegetic-sounds, where as some soundtracks are Non-diegetic. For example the raining, is real this means everyone that is acting can hear it as It is a natural thing. But the sound effects can only be heard by the audience, this creates meaning and helps build up the scene. The thunder is used as a sign that something bad is about to happen.
In This next imagine, as she is hiding underneath the bed, it’s almost as if she has been abandoned as she is by herself, we could think that because her father is aware of the problems she’s having and may have wanted to possibly get rid of her, or just leave her because he is tired and has paid so much money to try and sort out this problem but it just simply isn’t working. The weather gives an unwelcoming atmosphere.

The girl is also seen to be friendly and having a warm heart this imagine shows us the impression.

This also links back to when the girl was underneath  the bed by herself, we can see the father walking away from the bedroom, this suggest that he is leaving her alone and keeping the distance between each other, this is used through  a long shot.

If we look closely at this image, it does not really appear to be a toy, take a look at the neck, it looks humanlike, this could suggest this is another little girl hiding behind a joka’s mask to come and seek revenge or something which the girl has done to her.

Studying this last imagine, if we stare at the background we can see paths of light and darkness, it is almost as if both elements are having a constant battle, on who is going to win the man? Or who is going to win the girl. This short film is a thriller once again, as it involves crime and exciting plots on a little girl, trapping her in a twisted twilight world.
